General
What is GPS Find My Device?
It's an Android app that helps you find a lost phone, share live location with family and friends, protect your phone with offline alarms, and keep track of your trips. On your phone it's shown as "Find My Device - Phone Tracker".
Is it free?
Yes, the app is free to download and the core features are free to use. An optional Premium subscription removes limits, for example on family members, intruder emails and driving history. The free version may show ads.
Which phones does it work on?
Android phones running Android 7.0 or newer. Some features need hardware your phone may not have, such as a proximity sensor for Anti Pocket or a front camera for Intruder Selfie. The app tells you if a feature isn't supported.
Is this Google's Find My Device?
No. GPS Find My Device is an independent app. It is not made, affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
How do I change the map type?
Open Settings → Map Type and pick the style you like, such as normal or satellite.
Finding a lost phone
How do I find my lost phone?
Sign in with the same Google account on both phones: Home → Locate Phone → Continue with Google. Your other phones then appear in Your Devices. Tap one to see it on the map, ring it, lock it or erase it.
Why can't I reach my other phone?
The other phone needs this app, the same Google account and an internet connection. Lock and Erase also need Device Admin turned on, on that phone.
Can I find a phone that is switched off or offline?
You'll see the last location the phone shared before it went offline. Ring, Lock and Erase reach it once it's switched on and connected again.
Why do Lock, Erase and Intruder Selfie need Device Admin?
Android only lets an app lock the screen, factory-reset the phone or notice wrong unlock attempts if you make it a device administrator. The app uses this permission only for those features, and only when you ask for them.
What does Erase Data do?
It factory-resets the lost phone, deleting everything on it, including this app. It can't be undone, and you won't be able to locate that phone afterwards. Use it only as a last resort.
How do I uninstall the app when Uninstall Protection is on?
Turn off Tools → Uninstall Protection in the app first, then uninstall as usual. You can also go to Android Settings → Security → Device admin apps and turn the app off there.
Family sharing
How do I see family or friends on the map?
GPS Tracker → Family Tracker. They open Share Location and send you their 6-character code; you enter it in Track People. They get a notification and tap Allow. You can share your own location with them the same way.
Can someone track me without my knowledge?
No. To see your location, a person needs your code and you have to tap Allow on their request. You can see who you share with in Family Tracker and stop at any time.
How do I stop sharing my location or remove someone?
Open Family Tracker, choose the person, and turn sharing off or tap Remove. They won't see your location any more.
What happens when I send an SOS?
After a short countdown you can cancel, everyone you share your location with gets an alarm-style alert with your live location. SOS does not contact the police or emergency services. In an emergency, call your local emergency number first.
How many people can I share with?
The free plan shares with a small number of people. Premium removes the limit so your whole family fits.
Security alerts
How do the offline security alerts work?
On Home, turn on Touch Alert, Intruder Selfie, Anti Pocket, Charger Alert, Whistle Alert or Clap Finder. The phone sounds an alarm when it is touched, taken out of a pocket or unplugged, rings when you whistle or clap, and takes a photo after wrong unlock attempts. No internet is needed.
Why is there a notification while an alert is on?
Android requires a visible notification for anything that keeps running in the background. It shows that protection is on and lets you turn it off quickly.
Whistle Alert or Clap Finder doesn't hear me. What can I do?
- Make sure the microphone permission is allowed for the app.
- Whistle clearly for a couple of seconds, or clap a few times, reasonably close to the phone.
- Loud music or noise nearby can hide the sound.
- Some phones stop background apps to save battery. Allow the app to run in the background in your battery settings.
Does the app record my audio?
No. Whistle Alert and Clap Finder analyse sound on your phone, as it happens, to recognise a whistle or a clap. Audio is never recorded, saved or uploaded.
Where are intruder photos saved?
Inside the app's private storage on your phone, in Intruder Selfie → Photos. They don't appear in your gallery. If you turn on email alerts, each photo is also emailed to the address you choose, with the phone's location.
Trips & places
Why are some trips missing from Driving Reports?
Trips are recorded by themselves only when location is set to "Allow all the time". With "While using the app", only trips made while the app is open are recorded. Location must also be on.
How do I record a trip myself?
GPS Tracker → GPS Tracking → Start. You can pause, resume or stop it there. Your recorded trips are in Tracking History.
How do I save my favourite places?
GPS Tracker → Manage Places. Add Home, Work, School or any other place, then tap it to see it on the map or start navigation.
Does the app drain my battery?
The app is designed to be light. It checks your location more often while you're moving and much less while you're still. If you notice high battery use, you can turn off features you don't need or set location to "While using the app".
Who can see my trips?
Your trip history and driving reports are stored only on your phone. They are not uploaded to our servers.
Privacy & account
Do I need an account?
Find My Phone needs you to sign in with Google on both phones, so the app knows which phones are yours. The offline alarms and GPS tools work without signing in.
What data does the app collect?
Only what features need: for example your Google name and email when you sign in, your device's location for finding it and for sharing with people you approve, and anonymous app statistics. Read the full Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my account and data?
Open the Delete account page, sign in with the Google account you use in the app and confirm. Your account is deleted straight away and every phone on it is signed out. You can also ask by email.
Do you sell my data?
No. We never sell your personal data or your location.
