1. About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the GPS Find My Device Android app (shown on your phone as "Find My Device - Phone Tracker", package com.maps.findmyphone.gpstracker.phonetracker) and this website handle your information. "We", "us" and "our" mean the developer of GPS Find My Device, as listed on Google Play.

By installing or using the app you agree to this policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. You can contact us at any time at feedbackfindmydevice@gmail.com.

GPS Find My Device is an independent app. It is not made, affiliated with or endorsed by Google.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what a feature needs. Many features work entirely on your phone. Here is what is collected, and when.

2.1 Google account (when you sign in)

Find My Phone uses Google Sign-In so the app knows which phones belong to you. When you sign in we receive your name, email address, profile photo link and Google account ID. We store these in your account record together with the list of your devices.

2.2 Device information

To let your phones and the people you approve reach this phone, the app creates a device record containing:

  • a device identifier (Android ID) and your phone's 6-character sharing code, which is derived from it;
  • the device name and model;
  • the phone's last known location (see section 3), battery level and whether it is charging;
  • a Firebase Cloud Messaging token, so messages such as Ring, Lock or a sharing request can be delivered;
  • small counters the app needs, for example when the last intruder email was sent and a scrambled (hashed) record of invites, so free-plan limits work after a reinstall.

2.3 People you connect with

When you share location with someone, the app stores their sharing code, the name you give them and their latest location and battery as they share it. This list is kept on your phone. Avatars and profile photos you pick for people are stored only on your phone.

2.4 Camera: Intruder Selfie

If you turn on Intruder Selfie, the front camera takes a photo after the number of wrong unlock attempts you chose. Photos are saved in the app's private storage on your phone. If you turn on email alerts, the photo, the phone's location (if available) and the email address you entered (or your Google account email) are sent to our email service so the alert can be delivered to you.

2.5 Microphone: Whistle Alert and Clap Finder

When these alerts are on, the app listens through the microphone and analyses the sound on your phone, in real time, to recognise a whistle or a clap. Audio is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.

2.6 Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

  • Bluetooth Finder scans for nearby Bluetooth devices so you can find them. The names, types and last-connected time and place of your own gadgets are saved in your account, so your other signed-in phones can show where a gadget was last connected.
  • So that phones with the app can find each other nearby, the app may briefly send a Bluetooth signal containing a short random-looking tag and your phone's Bluetooth name. Other people can ring your phone over Bluetooth only if you turn on "Let phones nearby ring this phone", which is off by default.
  • Nearby Wi-Fi reads the list of Wi-Fi networks around you to show it on screen. This list is not uploaded.

2.7 Purchases

Premium subscriptions are processed by Google Play. We never see your card or bank details. We receive information about your subscription (such as the product, its status and a purchase token) so we can unlock Premium.

2.8 Diagnostics, analytics and ads

We use Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics and Google AdMob, which collect device and usage information. See section 7.

2.9 When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and use it only to reply and help you.

3. Location data

GPS Find My Device collects location data to enable Find My Phone, family location sharing, Driving Reports, place alerts and SOS, even when the app is closed or not in use, if you allow location access "All the time". You can change this at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Find My Device - Phone Tracker → Permissions → Location.

Here is how each feature uses your precise or approximate location:

FeatureWhat happens to your location
Map on Home, Compass, Traffic Map, Address FinderUsed on your phone to show where you are. Addresses are looked up with Android's built-in geocoder, which may contact Google.
Find My PhoneYour phone's latest location is saved in its device record so your other phones on the same Google account can show it. Each update replaces the previous one; no history is kept there.
Family Tracker, Check In, SOS, ETA and place alertsSent directly to the people you approved, through Firebase Cloud Messaging. We do not keep a copy of these messages.
GPS Tracking, Tracking History, Driving Reports, saved placesStored only on your phone. Never uploaded to our servers.
Bluetooth FinderThe place where one of your gadgets was last connected is saved in your account for your other phones.
Intruder email alertsIncluded in the email, if you turn email alerts on.

We never sell your location, and we never share it with advertisers.

4. How we use information

  • To provide the app's features: locating, ringing, locking and erasing your phones, family sharing, alerts, trips and reports.
  • To deliver messages between your phones and the people you approve.
  • To unlock and manage Premium.
  • To keep the app working well: fixing crashes, improving features and understanding which features are used.
  • To show ads in the free version (see section 7).
  • To answer your emails and support requests.
  • To prevent abuse and to meet legal obligations.

Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (providing the features you ask for), your consent (for location, camera, microphone and personalised ads, which you can withdraw at any time), legitimate interests (keeping the app secure and reliable, crash reporting and analytics) and legal obligations.

5. What stays on your phone

The following never leave your phone, unless you choose to share or email them yourself:

  • trip history, GPS tracks, driving reports, weekly and monthly summaries;
  • saved places and parking spots;
  • intruder photos (unless email alerts are on);
  • photos and avatars you pick for yourself or others;
  • your alert settings and app preferences;
  • audio heard by Whistle Alert and Clap Finder, which is never stored at all.

Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes this information from your phone.

6. How information is shared

We share information only in these cases:

  • With people you choose. When you approve a sharing request or send a Check In or SOS, the people you share with see your name, location and battery level.
  • With your own phones. Phones signed in to the same Google account can see each other's location and details and send each other commands.
  • With service providers who run parts of the app for us, under their own privacy terms:
  • For legal reasons, if we must by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, the public or us.
  • In a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of the app, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.

We do not sell personal data.

7. Ads and analytics

Advertising

The free version of the app may show ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and how you interact with ads, to show and measure ads and to prevent fraud.

  • In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, we ask for your consent through Google's consent form before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice later from the app's Settings.
  • Anywhere, you can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in Android Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on your phone).

Analytics and crash reports

Firebase Analytics tells us which screens and features are used, with information such as device model, Android version, app version, approximate country and an app instance ID. Firebase Crashlytics sends crash reports with technical details about the device and the error. We use this only to improve the app. It is not used to identify you personally.

8. Permissions we ask for

Android asks you before the app can use most of these. You can say no; only the related feature won't work.

9. How long we keep data

  • Account records: while you use the app. When you delete your account on our website, your account and its link to your phones are deleted immediately and every phone on it is signed out. Requests by email are handled within 30 days.
  • Device records: a phone's own record holds no account details and is kept while the app is used on that phone, because features like your sharing code work without an account. Email us to delete a phone's record after uninstalling the app.
  • Location in your device record: only the most recent location is kept; each update replaces the last.
  • Sharing, Check In and SOS messages: delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging and not stored by us. Google may hold a message for a phone that is offline for up to 28 days so it can be delivered.
  • Trips and driving reports (on your phone): older trip data is removed automatically after a set period (currently 30 to 60 days), or when you delete it or uninstall the app.
  • Intruder email photos: kept by our email service only as long as needed to deliver the alert and keep the image in your email viewable. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
  • Analytics and crash data: kept according to Google's retention settings: up to 14 months for analytics and 90 days for crash reports.
  • Support emails: kept as long as needed to help you, then deleted.
  • Purchase records: kept by Google Play, and by us where required for tax or accounting.

10. Security

Data sent between the app and our services is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on Google Cloud and Cloudflare infrastructure. We collect as little as possible and keep the most personal data, such as your trips, on your phone. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If you believe your data is at risk, contact us right away.

11. Your choices and rights

Choices in the app

  • Allow or deny any permission, and change it later in Android Settings.
  • Turn any alert or feature off, stop sharing with anyone, or remove them.
  • Turn intruder email alerts off.
  • Sign out, or delete your account and data.
  • Change your ad consent in the app's Settings, or reset your advertising ID in Android Settings.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or California law), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. You won't be treated differently for using these rights. To use them, email feedbackfindmydevice@gmail.com. We'll reply within 30 days, and may need to confirm it's really you. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

12. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. Parents who share location with a child's phone should do so openly, with the child's knowledge. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

13. International transfers

Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries that may have different data protection laws from yours. Where required, these transfers are protected by safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses used by those providers.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. We'll change the "Last updated" date above, and if the changes are significant we'll let you know in the app or on this page before they take effect.
